  A Google search of "best seafood restaunts" near Vancouver popped Chewies to the top of my list. I was pleased by the niche neighborhood and local feel of the restaurant. There is some seafood (mussels, oysters, halibut) on the menu, but Chewies is really a Canadian take on American Southern and soul food. Interesting interpretation of grits, over cooked fish, and salty, but properly cooked, pork belly crackling. Enjoyed conversation and BC wine while here...not so much for dinner.

  Great atmosphere day and night. The staff are always up beat, playful and there for a good time. I recommend sitting at the bar to enjoy a few oysters and your drink of choice!

  I really do enjoy the food here but every time I come back, the service is worse. The last time I tried to go in, I hadn't realized that the happy hour times had changed and instead of letting us know, our server snatched our menus from our hands and very rudely said that it ended 13 minutes ago. There was no issue with the fact that the hours had changed, we completely understood. The issue we had was that the server was extremely rude to us and told us it was "too bad". I definitely am a fan of the food here, but every time I come in the service is disappointing. The happy hour is really what has kept me coming back but the service has completely put me off of it now.

  Came here during Dine out. We had great service and food was good. I'm a bit of a foodie so I wouldn't say it was great. This location had a good vibe and could tell they had a lot of regulars that night. Oysters were great! So fresh.

  Good food, the oysters were as fresh as could be possible. Service was excellent, and the server had a great understanding of the menu, and how some of their dishes were different from the typical presentation.

  Our server really didn't care about us. The place was busy, but he was more interested in socializing with one of the women sitting at the bar than remembering to bring our order. He didn't tell us about the happy hour price for oysters (it started 20 minutes after we arrived). He also sold us a bottle of wine that was available to $20 less at happy hour. The only good service we had was when we paid the bill. The server seemed quite happy that we were leaving.
  The food was good, but not worth putting up with the service.
  We noticed that the tables on either side of us also seemed to be getting poor service.
