  Solid three star. Not licensed so no drinks. Place is quite average to be honest, I'm sure there are much better sushi places close by. Service was quickish, place a bit dirty but nothing too bad. Fish was good. Not over the top, not the best. Strictly a solid average.

  Kitaya Sushi, 1088 Denman. Ordered "seafood" udon. What arrived was nasty smelling. The seafood was almost absent, except for the far-from-fresh emanations. I asked the "chef" to explain just what he had put in it. Salmon, tuna and scallops, he said. I fished around in it and found two miniature scallops that would not have amounted to a teaspoonful. The purported salmon was not recognizable. Tuna? Shudder. Other than that, noodles and evil broth. So different from the picture in the menu it amounted to a grim irony. After our examination of this poisonous concoction, I looked at him and said "No", and walked out. Should I mention the draft-generating industrial fan that was imitating, in its deafening racket, a mistuned B52 warming up on the tarmac? Avoid at all costs. I'm only giving it one star because the site forces me to. Negative 5 would be fair.
