  The Mighty Slocan, as we like to call it, is a place where my family has gone for many years. Reliably good coffee and friendly service from the Italian ladies is the main reason we go there.
  The food is dependably good and portions are generous. This place is our family get together spot and I suspect it is the same for many families in the neighbourhood. Good food, good vibes. And free parking in the back! What more can you ask of a restaurant?

  I always think it's going to be more busy than it is. I've never had to wait for a table, the service has always been great, the food comes in intimidating portions that always tastes incredible.
  
  The prices are pretty average for the neighborhood and it's easy to get to, so everything works in its favor. I'd worry about trying to visit at peak brunch times. The decor is bland, but the decor doesn't matter. If you need things to look pretty while you eat, why are you eating in East Van?

  I ordered there burger, it was very dissapointing. Cheap bun, lettuce and tomato were not fresh, and the patty was dry and flavorless. The decor is very old, looks like 1986 in here. The waitress was fine, but I wouldn't come back here. Also, quite pricy for mediocre food.
