  As a vegan and gluten-free healthy eater I was happy with their options. We found the root vegetable dish good (needed more sauce or seasoning in our mind) and the potato dish was also good (lots of vegan butter, little salty). The desserts were phenomenal, a chocolate tart and the special of the week, an ice cream sandwich. People that aren't gf or veggie would love these desserts. My boyfriend is plant-based, but eats meat and he ordered of the veggie menu too as it looked more appetizing and healthy. Unfortunately, you have to ask for the separate menu. The service was outstanding, our waiter was great! Next time we will go for dessert and a glass of red ( I have to ask if they have vegan wine by the glass).

  I cannot fathom how this restaurant gets such stellar reviews. Apart from our very kind and courteous server, YEW is not a restaurant with enough good qualities for a place I would recommend. I've been here for brunch and it wasnt good. Assuming it was a one off thing, I decided to come here again with my parents. Been to many fine dining restaurants over the years but I have never been so unimpressed with the overall experience. Atmosphere is nice, server and manager are very kind, but the food is quite disappointing. Overcooked and seemingly microwaved scallops, bland and salty dungeoness crab salad. All very pretty, but not very enjoyable for the price point. My steak was overcooked not once, but twice. I asked for medium rare but got well done both times. My server was too kind for me to send it back a third time. The steak was also way too salty. My mother's seafood platter tasted bland, dry, and overcooked. My father's main was so-so. Not as bad my mine or my mother's. Dessert was alright, but nothing special in my opinion. The black sesame ice cream was really good and flavourful but way too sweet. The Chocomatcha cake lacked in matcha flavour and was also too sweet. But the ice cream/sorbet was refreshing. Overall, would not come back again. I'm thankful for the great service, but it isn't complimented by such lacklustre food.

  Dining at YEW Seafood was fantastic. The quality of food was amazing - full of flavor and unique. The service was a cut above and defiantly made us feel like valued customers. For the dining experience we had, we would expect to pay more than we did - value is outstanding. The decor in the dining area is modern with music played at a reasonable volume. While wearing jeans and a t-shirt I did feel slightly under dress compared to some guests, however, this is a family environment with multiple families with young children enjoying a meal during our visit.

  Nice atmosphere. Not too loud. Went for dinner here with a group of five. Had a three course meal for about $50/person. Great service. The sablefish was cooked really well. The tuna tartar was okay, but not that good.
