  This place used to be my favourite Japanese restaurant... ten years ago... but times have changed and the quality of the food has become worse and worse by the year. Even my favourite dish the salmon roe fried rice has been botched.

  Table is greasy. If tables aren't maintained and cleaned properly, how can you trust the food here? Also, food is overpriced. Not enough light in here; dark.

  A nice restaurant overall. Enjoyed their lunch special that comes with one special roll (I got the Kerrisdale roll which is pictured), one side dish (I got the spicy tuna sashimi), and a miso soup and salad. All for $12.95! The only qualm I had was that I found a tiny sliver of plastic wrap in my sushi. But the manager immediately tended to the problem by making the roll for us again for free.

  Let's start with the good. The service was excellent for the most part. Teas were refilled, plates were taken away - all in a timely manner.
  
  However, the food was poor and way overpriced...
  
  We ordered a $15 unagi fried rice and it was 90% rice and the rest was small unagi bits and veggies. You can order an unagi don anywhere else for $8 with a large delicious piece of unagi. This was the first sign of sacrificing quality for profit.
  
  We also ordered a $7 magma roll. Traditionally, you would expect 6 pieces, but it came with only 2. Very disappointed.
  
  Finally, the $19 teriyaki salmon came with 3 measly pieces of thin salmon. Again, 90% of the dish was beansprouts and some onions. Do you see a trend? Every star ingredient is minimized and the cheap ingredients are maximized.
  
  The food all tasted average and is not worth your money. Just walk a few minutes and grab better sushi down the street.
